More about Burroughs

Apparently, Augusten Burroughs is considered as a pretty handsome guy,

“I was very tall, skinny, and had thick, wavy blond hair: all the qualities that ninety-nine-point-nine percent of the female population equate with beauty.”

He attended modeling school at the age of FOURTEEN! I think some people would see this man as weird others see him as unique, but he is certainly different from the general population.

He had more disgusting things to say, which reveals about his personality, but I rather not quote him because it lacks appropriateness. But just note that he is pretty feminine inside.

So far, he has provided several stories about his life, and every story contain very personal details( such as his homosexuality) , and he doesn't hold back at all. Burroughs don't seem to care about how readers might perceive him, he demonstrates bravery in revealing everything about his life to inform and entertain readers, despite the fact that readers can be very judgemental and critical these days.

About Burroughs

As a seven years old boy, Burroughs show a sign of his interest in the same gender,

"Something about the presence of the men made both Mrs. Ames and me turn red and become hot."

"As I was watching him he caught my eye and smiled. I thought he was a very friendlyl man, very nice. I admired his crisp dark suit, white shirt, and black tie. His hair was athick and glossy, combed back. I smiled at him. He nudged his friend and nodded in my direction, and then the other man looked at me. He smiled, too."

Check this

"I wanted to jump up out of my seat and run to the men, hugging them around the legs. I wanted to lick the hair on their wrist."

As I was researching, I found out for a fact that Augusten Burroughs is homosexual, and he seem to focus on his homosexuality a lot throughout this book. His writing may be slightly disturbing to read sometimes, but easy to understand. His collection of personal stories "Magical Thinking" reveals every stage of his life. The first several stories in the beginning talks about his memerable experiences at his early ages, every first sentence or paragraph of his story begins with "When I was seven years old" or "When I was in fourth grade". So he clearly states how old he was in each story.

Extra STUFF

Interview

Augusten Burroughs

Honestly, I picked Augusten Burroughs(Christopher Robison) because he was the first memorist suggested by Mr. Walsh. Also he is a number one selling author with Running with Scissors, Dry, Magical Thinking, Sellevision and Possible Side Effects. His New York Times best selling is his memoir "Running with Scissors". I think the writings of such a author should be more interesting, hopefully, I haven't done enough research about him yet, so I can't tell. The main subjects of his writings are memoir and humor, so it should be somewhat funny. I am pretty sure that his pieces focus on his family a lot as well.
